Vrajesh Udani finished his paediatric training from Mumbai University in 1981 and proceeded to train in Child Neurology at the State University of NY in Brooklyn USA in 1983.

After finishing his American Boards in Child Neurology and neurophysiology he returned to India, in 1989, to set up a Child Neurology department at the PD Hinduja National Hospital and later at the BJ Wadia children’s hospital and the JJ Hospital – both public hospitals in Mumbai.

He undertook further training in epilepsy with a special interest in epilepsy surgery at the comprehensive epilepsy centre at the Miami Children’s Hospital in Miami, Florida between 1996-97. An active paediatric surgical programme has been established and there have been over 50 children and teenagers operated by now.

His major research interests are in epilepsy and SSPE.
Dr Udani has over 30 publications in peer reviewed journals and has recently been part of a international multicentre trial of alpha interferon in SSPE. He has lectured extensively all over India and is part of several national neurology and paediatric organizations and sub-commitees.
