Dr. K H Chan graduated from the Medical Faculty of the University of
Hong Kong and completed his basic physician training in Queen Mary Hospital of the University Department of Medicine after obtaining his MRCP (UK). He then started specialty training in Neurology in the Queen Mary Hospital. With interest in immune-mediated neurolgical disorders, he spent a year in Mayo Clinic Rochester MN focussing on anti-neuronal autoantibodies research under the mentorship of Professor Vanda Lennon and clinical specialty training in idiopathic inflammatory demyelinating disorders under the supervision of
Professor Brian Weinshenker. Afterwards, he continued his clinical, research and teaching work in Queen Mary Hospital of the University of Hong Kong. He is currently an active member of the Hong Kong Neurological Society, founding fellow of the Hong Kong Stroke Society, member of the neuroscience laboratory of the University Department of Medicine, reviewer for the Hong Kong Medical Journal and speaker in the coming Annual Scientific Meeting of the Hong Kong Neurological Society. His current interests are humoral and thymic cellular immunity in autoimmune myasthenia gravis, idiopathic inflammatory demyelinating disorders of Hong Kong Chinese, and humoral immunity of paraneoplastic neurological disorders.
